Spanish Minor
Minor Requirements
The Spanish minor requires 24 hours of credit beyond 213. There are no specific course requirements, but prerequisites and sequences must be observed. For example, all 400-level literature courses require two of Spanish 345, 354, 355, and 356. The prerequisite for 400-level language courses is 343.
Spanish minors must take the following prerequisites:
____ 341 Advanced Conversation and Composition and
____ 343 Advanced Conversation and Composition
They usually take two, three, or four of the following:
____ 348 Spanish Civilization and Culture
____ 349 Spanish American Civilization and Culture (or 350, 351, or 352 only in México/WQ)
____ 345 Business Spanish
____ 354 Dramatizations of the Hispanic World (FQ)
____ 355 Fictions of the Hispanic World (WQ)
____ 356 Poetic Images of the Hispanic World (SQ)
____ 437, 438, 439, or 441 Language/Linguistics
Minors who have completed two of 354, 355, and 356, have the option of taking one or more of following as their fifth and/or sixth course:
____ Peninsular Content: 425, 427, 429, 432, 450, 453, 454, 455, or 458
____ Latin American Content: 443, 444, 447, or 448
____ 435 Proseminar changes content annually
*Please note that independent studies, internships and SPAN 440 (Methodology) do not count towards the major or the minor.
